CYTEC Advances Regulatory Compliance by Deploying The WERCS®
Reduces Product Liability and Increases Product Compliance
Albany, NY — The Wercs, Ltd., the global leader in Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) Software, today announced that CYTEC, a global specialty chemicals and materials company has successfully implemented its MSDS & Product Regulatory Software package, The WERCS®. The choice to implement The WERCS® was the result of several years of both internal studies as well as utilizing recommendations by The Gartner Group.
Driven by growing global product regulation complexities and the critical need to readily support business units dealing with new products, acquisitions, and global product sales, CYTEC turned to The Wercs, Ltd. for a comprehensive, customized solution that ensured data quality and compliance, while reducing product liability.
The standard implemented system offered by The Wercs, Ltd. gives CYTEC the ability to readily create and format MSDSs, with increased language support (e.g. Korean, Chinese) as well as integrated product regulatory data. It also allows for complete intranet based access to data and reports as well as interfacing with order processing and plant labeling systems.
One of the major custom requirements critical to CYTEC systems and processes for ensuring product regulatory compliance and minimizing product liability was the development of an on-line data entry Product Steward Compliance Form (PSCF) to replace their current manual method. The PSCF is a key CYTEC tool for collecting and maintaining product data and a pre-requisite required for all materials before the manufacturing process or any product is shipped.
The customization performed by The Wercs, Ltd. allowed CYTEC to:

· Instill a greater sense of data ownership to product stewards

· Access the system from remote locations

The implementation of THE WERCS® from the existing legacy system included a data migration task that included over 60 years worth of historic data, 15,000 products, 120,000 MSDSs and labels in ten languages and document templates.
