    7. Significant New Use Rules (Snurs) Proposed by EPA

      The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing significant new use rules (Snurs) under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) for eight chemicals that were the subject of premanufacturing notices (PMNs). If approved, the rules will require anyone intending to manufacture, import or process these substances for any activity designated as a significant new use to notify the EPA at least 90 days before beginning the activity. The notification would allow EPA to evaluate the intended use and, if necessary, limit or prohibit that activity.
